If your complaint is with the texture then you haven't had many mushroom preparations done well, anon. Mushroom cream sauce for example is fantastic and it's made by the flavor, not the texture of the mushrooms themselves, which is nothing like "slimy" anyway. Most mushroom preparations when done well do not have the texture you are referring to, it's shitty canned mushrooms that get put on fast food burgers or cafeteria-tier food that have that feeling. You don't cook it properly. Fry them in a pan with a sprinkle of water. When they are dry add butter or oil or both. Butter is best. Fry until a nice brown.
