the metal aftertaste is a factor, but a minor one. a bigger one is that mesh allows through more oils and fines compared to a paper filter. some folks prefer that presentation however. also they can be tricky to dial in bc they flow fast but clog easily ime. paper filters are much more popular so youll be able to find a lot more advice and help on using them compared to metal filters.

Word of warning to any k6 users or people considering buying one, the bearing is not stainless and will rust over time, especially if you do RDT. I dropped mine in some vinegar for half a day and sprayed it with wd-40 on it and it's mostly fine now, not as smooth spinning as before but it doesn't squeak or offer much resistance anymore. Still something worth considering.
Another thing, if you loosen the silicon grip, just take it off. Trying to grinding with it slipping around is way harder than just not having it.

Hey uhhh guys I think thr OP should have a guide on how to choose a good coffee place. Why would I ever spend all that money on gear and make my own when I can just go to the spot and have some qt make it for me? It also kind of sucks that I'm a normalfag I guess, because I only likr macchiato, cold brew, and espresso tonic. Some threads back I complained about coffee tasting odd all of a sudden, likely due to the milk. I ended up cutting dairy as part of a health experiment to try controlling my acne and have since experimented with different non-dairy creamer options. I've tried almond milk and oat milk and honestly, not bad. Not quite the same but I've had some cups here and there that were satisfying. In two weeks I'll be trying with milk again, I'll see if it gives me acne or not and if the taste issue has improved.

Are you guys onr of those "I need coffee to function" NPCs or do you actually enjoy the taste and the brewing process? Me personally I'm neither. I only drink coffee at those specialty coffee shops and use it as an excuse to leave the house and take a walk. These places have cute girls and are just comfy to sit in. In 2020, I decided that I loved coffee but hated paying $4 for coffee. So I got into making cold brew.
Now I've gone too far, I've got an espresso machine + high end grinder (espresso and pour over) and I can tell the difference between good coffee and bad coffee.

No I just use the inverted method. The cap you mention is apparently 28 British pounds (38 US dollars). Damn, Aeropress stuff is expensive. Meanwhile you can get a basic french press from a UK supermarket for only 5 pounds (7 US dollars).

i recently picked up some timor beans from my local hipster importer, its bretty gud. used my typical prep method of blasting it in the mortar and boiling on the stovetop for ~4 min and it came out very nice. also grabbed some cajamarca which is very tasty. im usaully more of a teafag and only make cawfee occasionally but im quite happy with my decision to pick up some non shit beans
