From my experience in Wisconsin, they take a lot of pride in locally made and sources ingredients/foods. A lot of that is cheese and meats, but they also celebrate every season of produce in the summer, and half the places I stop sell local syrup, honey, cider, wine, beer, whatever.

I live in WI. The food here sucks donkey cock. Everything is just oil and mayonnaise. The grocery stores here have nothing but poverty slop and the local cuisine consists of dumping various boxes of peasant gruel into a casarrole pan to make things that basically boil down to "luxury" versions of 1950s TV dinners.

I quit drinking 2 yrs ago and living here is like hell on earth. Outside of Madison there is no social scene besides sitting around and drinking until your organs shut down. Most of these places (besides Kenosha) are medium-small population hubs in extremely rural areas.
