Because understanding -phobe as "fear of" is a modern psyop pushed by the fag agenda to discredit legitimate criticism of homosexuality. The classical understanding of -phobe is more like "a natural tendency to avoid." Hydrophobic lipids are not "fearful" of water, they naturally avoid water. It would come to common sense that anyone with a phobia would naturally avoid that phobia. Being fearful is only coincidental to the original understanding, but the homosexuals have perverted (like many other things) this language to make those with homophobia seem afraid and backward.
