The answer is autism. This site attracts people who like Japanese things and culture. It's how seriously people take those things. Many people like anime shows but prefer to watch them dubbed. To an autistic who is obsessed with everything being done in very specific ways that pisses them off even if they aren't the one watching it.

Ginger on the sushi is the same thing. The people who do it give no fucks, they're just enjoying sushi. The anger come from autistics getting upset that not everyone does things exactly how they want.

Well I like sushi a good bit. I will certainly sometimes just eat a piece or two then have a bit of ginger. In general though I prefer then together so it's how I eat probably 75% of the pieces or so. It's not really fucking up if it's a known preference.

According to sushi crafting code the cook is supposed to add a bit of wasabi between the rice ball and the fish piece thus why pseudopurists claim dipping it in soy sauce and wasabi is innapropriate, but ironically 90% of asian owned restaurants I've seen(no matter if jap, chink or gook owned) most restaurants in the west don't do it and I check every time.

Yeah, I think good sushi is already supposed to be a bite of perfectly seasoned food. Usually they'll put just the right amount of wasabi on the rice and brush the fish with soy sauce. I feel like they don't do that step in most American sushi places because they don't know if the average white person customer is going to complain about it or not.

I mean the other two examples there are really no different, that person with the fork likely won't stab you and chewing with your mouth open makes annoying sounds and is gross to look at but doesn't actually hurt anyone. But those are all to do with social interactions, unless you're sharing an individual piece of sushi with someone there's no reason for them to care how much wasabi or ginger they put on it.
