You could also just add a tiny bit of any oil to the rice before cooking to get the same effect. Toasting it isn't doing anything for separation, but it's nice for other reasons.

If you're making pizza with veggies, sprinkle the top lightly with panko bread crumbs. They absorb the water that is cooked out and keeps the pizza from getting soggy. They also add a nice crunch

I like to cook with a garbage bowl on the counter. just a big mixing bowl of some kind and its sole purpose is just to catch things like egg shells, wrappers, peeled veggie skins, etc.
going to the trash can is not much effort, but it throws off my groove, and I always feel like I need to wash my hands again after.
dump the bowl when you are done. wa la.

if you do any gardening, keep a bucket outside to throw this vegetable waste in, and fill it with water
use it to water ur plants
keep a lid on the bucket though and try not to breath in the gasses, the smell is horrid and there's probably some disease in there as the vegetation rots/ferments

>Put olive oil in pasta water so the pasta won't stick.
this is a myth. the oil floats to the surface of the water and stays there, and only sticks to the pasta after you drain it, which prevents your sauce from properly coating the pasta. pasta sticking only happens if you don't use enough water or use a pan that's way too small. additionally, the solution is to simply stir it at least once.

Cold water boiling faster than hot is a retarded myth, raising the temperature of water requires a set amount of energy per degree. Cold water needs more energy to boil.

I don't actually know what I'm doing in the kitchen so I keep my meals really simple. I usually just throw a cooking sheet down in the pan and put a fish fillet on that and start cooking. Doesn't really get greasy and cleanup takes like 15 seconds cuz all the juices and fish stuff stay on the sheet. Then the rice cooker does all the actual work for me and cooks the rice and veggies.
Seasoning? What's that?

Marinate lots of shit in a mix of salt, pepper, soy sauce, a bit of oil, cornstarch, and baking soda, maybe a pinch of sugar or honey too. Whatever meat you're marinading will be tender and juicy and will take considerable effort to make dry and chewy.

Works obviously with stir frys, but also is great for barbecues, fajitas, skewers, etc. Anything with bite sized meat.

i imagine that one shouldnt be trying to pat dry the meat when its done marinating with this method? or are you saying to cube meat up into bite sized pieces and marinate them like that? im trying to understand the purpose of the cornstarch as an ingredient, and the only thing i can think of is that its meant to affix the marinade to the meat like a glaze and help with browning into a crust

Yep that's right. You cut up the meat to increase surface area. The oil is so the chunks don't stick together, the cornstarch is to thicken the marinade so it stays on the meat. You can plop the wet marinated stuff into a pan and it'll brown right away, that's because of the sugar.

I put all my cooking trash, like meat trimmings/packaging, veggie or fruit bits, stuff that will decompose etc. And put it in a plastic grocery bag when making a meal instead of my regular trash bin. Then when done, I just take it directly to my outside trash bin so my indoor trash can doesnt start to smell and get nasty, plus makes my trash bags last longer.
