From Brooklyn, there's a few old school Italian delis left. Lioni's is good buck has gotten kind of expensive and their sandwiches are only about 1/2 of what they used to be. Used to be easily 2-3 meals worth.

Defonte's is good but pretty out of the way.

John's Deli is just okay.

Never been to Faicco's but it's supposed to be good.

nobody has delis outside of big cities. Yeah Safeway and Publix have delis but it's not the same as a small place

Best deli I ever ate at was Greek. They made their own olives and pickels and peppers and such on site. Bread was from an attached bakery. They did all the standards, but better.

Don't have a "local deli" within 12 miles of me.
The chain store deli departments are just awful, and triple-priced. What fredmeyer passes as large sandwich is generic meat and cheese and nothing else on the large party roll.
