Food and bev prices here in Chicago proper have shot WAY up. A domestic item that a few months ago went for 4.99 is now 6.99. Rigged, they're doing this for political reasons.

Meanwhile, I just cooked lunch for three: fried cod, broccoli croquettes and coleslaw.
Fish was on sale $3.29/lb and I fried up a pound of it, dredged in flour/cornstarch mix seasoned with shrimp salt, which is maybe an additional 10¢. The broccoli croquettes were a pound and a half of broccoli, two potatoes, salt and some flour to hold it together; about $2 worth of ingredients. The cabbage was 59¢/lb, and the salt, vinegar and mayonnaise to make it about 10¢ more, same for the frying oil. I fed two adults and a kid for a grand total of $6.18.
