if you're smoking something indoors, creating a pan fire that goes above your head, or jerking off while your food starts to burn, you deserve to have the fire alarm go off on your ass

Modern fire alarms go off from a fucking wisp of steam thanks to pressures from insurance companies.

are you like actually retarded?

if there's fire with smoke, not just FlambΓ© with alcohol
your fire alarm should absolutely start

also
>fire alarm that reacts on combination of smoke and heat
exist
I have one of those in my kitchen and literally never had a problem

conclusion
OP is a giant turd eating faggot

unless you get cucked by your countries laws to have an extra retarded fire alarm
they do not

just get one that is specifically made for the kitchen
aka smoke + heat detection

The worst thing about fire alarms in apartments is when you live next to people who have constantly chirping alarms. I mean, how can they not hear the noise every couple of seconds? How does it not drive them mad?
Anonymous No.21510754 >>21510880
You shouldn't have installed a fire alarm if you didn't want one.

They're overly sensitive, but my idiot neighbors nearly burned the apartment unit down the other day.
>only 2 occupied units out of 4.
>neighbors alarm going off, theyre linked
>unplug mine because fucking again?
>theirs still going off.
>wait 5 minutes.
>fucking hell fix your shit.
>smell food
>go to hallway
>thick food smoke
>god fucking damn it
>pound on door. No answer.
>realize nobody is home
>dial 911
>put my smoke detector back so its alarming.
>wait outside.
>full trucks roll full response
>They come out with a kitchen pan
Fucking retard left something cooking and left to run an errand. I didnt get the details but there was probably no actual fire, just a shitload of smoke. The funny thing is that his door had no forced entry, so I probably could have put it out myself. I never bothered to check but theyre the kinds of retards that would get mad at me for breaking in.
Thank you for reading my blog. Fuck smoke detectors 99% of the time I'm just showering.

Literally just remove the smoke detector and spackle up the hole if it's hardwired or just remove the 9v battery and you'll never hear or have to hear it again. This isn't /diy/

Insurance requires it? Cancel it or negotiate with new insurance provider. Required to have homeowner insurance? Pay off the fucking house. That's what I did. No one can tell me what to do with my place.

i disagree i think it is a big issue because i annoyed my neighbors and looked like an idiot even though there was literally no smoke whatsoever just because every building on earth has to have these devices which serve zero purpose in 99% of the cases

I never had to as I said, I eventually paid off my house, canceled insurance, spackled off the hard wired one and removed three of the battery powered ones.

Also made many other changes but not relevant. Haven't repainted yet so they still stick out. Maybe in a decade.

Slight story nobody asked for but I want to tell it
>be me
>move to bumfuck ND for work
>rent cheapo apartment
>have migrant neighbors some units down on some building
>hallways constantly stink of what ever somali slop they keep making
>numerous times they set off their alarms
>often multiple instances in a week
>some times they do nothing about it until it sets off the WHOLE BUILDING'S alarms, forcing everyone to evacuate and call in the fire department to boom up to their balcony and extinguish whatever mess they make
>they just buy new pans and do it all again, subjecting everyone to their retardation
Thank fuck I don't have to deal with them now that I moved away.

Just remove the battery. Unless you have some new smart hardwired ones which trip an outside monitor usually outside your unit/block or in a crawlspace.

Just fix it bro. Use your head.

Due to extensive prohibition on smoking and building codes meant to prevent people from being able to build a home, smoke alarms cost more human life than they save. Think of all the hours you've lost to fire drills and false alarms.

modern fire alarms are actually so insensitive to cooking smoke that I'm not even sure if they'd go off from a real fire at this point. my smoke alarm has never gone off from cooking in like 7 years.

it exists to tell you that you burned something in an air fryer, that's it

>Was there smoke damage? I’m not a landlord but I’d be pissed if I was one and had to clean that up.

I never saw the apartment, based on the evidence it was just a lot of cooking smoke with no flame. Landlord didn’t bother stopping by because the fire department hit it quick with fans. Thankfully not a fire but I’m still glad I called the FD if anything to teach the fucking retards to be more careful.

In truth the smoke alarm was going off for like 10 minutes before I bothered investigating. I just unplugged mine and hoped it resolved itself. I did have to wisdom to plug my detector back in before the fire crews showed up so I wouldn’t get lectured on disabling a fire alarm during a potential emergency.

half the posters itt don't know shit. there are two prominent types of alarms that work very different. if the one you have goes off way too often you might want to switch. here's all you need to know https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DDuAeaIcAXtg&ved=2ahUKEwij--a1x_GOAxWJUVUIHcStCgUQwqsBegQIEhAF&usg=AOvVaw00EQhk0Ss3ToKP2LidH6bV

Actual guess? Temps are cooler at night, and it's just enough to drop the voltage from the battery into the low-battery threshold for chirping.
