Anyone else stop going out to eat? Shit just got way too expensive, even groceries are getting out of hand now too.

For the most part, yes. I get coupons sometimes for local fast food as a cheap and easy weekend meal that inevitably gives me indegestion and sometimes diarrhea. Otherwise I'm simply over paying $30-40 for a Sysco plate and a couple beers. I'd rather cook a burger at home, air fry some fries, and drink 12 beers for $20. I can be naked and yell racial slurs all I want in my house but that cunt Francine at Applebee's says I'm not allowed to do any of that.

The odd part is there are older people I know talking about going to Texas Roadhouse for example dropping $200 on dinner (for 2 people) talking about how good it was and how its priced very fairly. I assume its just boomers excited to see their bank account go to $0 before dying.

I just hate going into town nowadays. Use to go in to drink and eat every month or two and stay at a hotel, shop at Costco, go to a grocery store that actually has stuff and load up the chest freezer overnight in the truck. Got drunk as shit, ate great food on the strip then crashed at the hotel and drove back home.

Yeah, I do miss that. I don't go out much anymore unless I'm getting alot of other things done with it.

Not for me, but I only just recently moved to a new place so i'm trying new things whenever I can. Once I get settled in and find "the good ones", i'll slow down on going out.

my boomers are starting to cope hard about the rising inflation. they are starting to spend too much money trying to make it how it was. but it will never be how it was again. hopefully they will be able to control themselves before i have to take over the finances

>got way too expensive
Prices are up, no doubt about it. Try to hunt out the better deals, maybe dine out for lunch, or early bird. Find who has good happy hour food pairings, for a value. Predrink when you need, like before a concert.

I really do not care for loss of privacy, but I have joined more apps in the last 2 years. I have been more loyal to a couple local places that have a good price on takeout choices. The minute you skimp on a takeout meal, or overcharge the dessert for the size, that kind of thing, I might never go back.

None of these things apply to me. Staying at a hotel to shop at Costco, you have a sad existence or live in luxurious wilderness.

No, I stay in a hotel so I can have a night out on the town and go drinking and eating at restaurants. I load up food in the chest freezer first at costco and the grocery store, drive to one of three hotels to check in then safely walk on a bar crawl then eat somewhere, walk back to the hotel and crash and drive home the next day. I'll also pick up parts and things if they are in at the supply stores. I live on a ranch alone with little if any often help. It's my little bit of fun that I just don't much anymore. That's kinda what the thread is about huh?

It's not only the money but the fact that everyone and I mean EVERYONE from big chain franchises to pop n mom shops are forced to cut corners. Fast food is overpriced and shittier than ever and the other week I went to a pretty good looking at least italian restaurant thinking it would be good but nope, mushy pasta, everything frozen and overcooked. Competency crisis also comes into play.

Pizza is good in most places though at least.

a small sacrifice for having the privilege of witnessing everything we have worked for burn to the ground.
Get yourself some marshmellows and just enjoy the warm glow of death and destruction.

it is too expensive. even fast food, which was made for poor faggots is too expensive. That 15$ i could spend on some whataburger meal could be put to better use buying tomatoes, lettuce, onions, eggs, bread, tortillas, bacon, beans and i could eat for at least a week.

Used to eat steak/grill menu a couple of times a month at Spoons, but they have ended that so just don't go anymore. Used to get a large mixed grill, black pudding, a buttermilk chicken breast and a bowl of Scampi. Was good.

You could get a slightly better burger at a mom&pop place, hell even Chilis has burger and fries for $14 that comes with guac.
Fast food exists only because of prior momentum and customer inertia.

I only eat out for family birthdays so it's no big deal.
What genuinely pisses me off is coffee houses, ice cream parlors and juice bars falling for the turnover meme.
Feels like the only place you're allowed to nurse a drink anymore are alcohol bars and at that point I might as well just go to the park with two packs of smokes and a backpack full of beer and talk to the vagrants & dudes equally sick of bar prices.

Boomers have no concept of what shit costs these days, like you said they'll gladly drop 200 bucks on a dinner and then bitch about younger people having a 200 dollar smart phone calling it a luxury

After I finish college, I will likely take a few years off in terms of me going out to eat. Unless I meet a girl that wants to go out with me for dinner.

with junkfood costing just as much as real restaurants now i've just been getting real food instead.
