Golden Corral gets a bad rep.

You can't beat all the popcorn shrimp you can eat.

Their meatloaf is tasty af, so is their bread pudding.

Now typing this out I am craving their fried chicken.

The one thing I never touch on the buffet is the chocolate fountain. All I see there is a moving wall of chocolate acting as a filter for all the human skin / poop particles floating through the air.

If you go at the right time on weekends you get all you can eat breakfast and lunch for the same price.

I do wish it was a lot cheaper like it used to be though.

I did for a while but my local Corral got really shitty. Don't even make the thick puffy bread rolls anymore. Service is also ass.

In general, Golden Corrals are terrible things, which OP's pic suggests, but not far from here is another that must have been something else before and GC membership didn't change it much (picrel) since the food and service is actually acceptable, just too expensive at something close to $20/plate. Plus tip.

The problem I have with Golden Corral is the fact that you have to eat the most expensive foods in order to make it cost effective. You can't eat the stuff you enjoy eating.

Nah, I load my plate up with the roast beef, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, first round. Second round, green beans with bacon, sliced ham, Mac and cheese, three biscuits, three corn bread muffins. Dessert round, a slice of every cake and pie and a big bowl of soft serve chocolate ice cream. This is all very enjoyable and feels like I get my money's worth. You just have to be comfortable with making the carving guy give you as much as you want, be comfortable letting the line pile up behind you while you force the wagie to whittle away enough beef to satisfy you.
My white trash and myself would fast all day long before we'd hit the golden corral, we'd stay until close just eating obscene amounts of food. I still somewhat carry this tradition with my family today, but I can only manage those three aforementioned plates.
