Dad got served crab so rotten you could smell it the second it exited the kitchen at a steak place once. They comped us for it but had the audacity to try and claim the clearly rotten seafood was okay, until the manager, who had clearly come from off site was called in and looked close to strangling one of his employees when he saw the crab they were claiming was fresh

I thought it was funny, but I was also pretty shitfaced at the time

The only time I've sent food back was going to an Italian place. Ordered a pizza. It came out burned, yet cold at the same time. Like it had basil and garlic on top that was just blackened, but the whole thing was under room temperature. More of an embarrassment for me because it was a full house and then the manager came out and made a scene, not in a bad way, but I didn't want to make a big deal of it.

Had the same thing happen at an English Pub in California. Dad took me in with a co-worker (it's not a full bar, also a restaruant, so I was allowed in). Waitress sat us and for 15 minutes we sat there, no drinks, no menus, nothing, so we just left. As we get out the door the bartender or whoever runs out asking if there was anything we needed. My dad waved him off and said no and we went out for Mexican instead.

Got food poisoning at a Mexican place ones. Throwing up all night. How hard is it for employees to wash their hands? It's like the main thing they have to do for their job, jesus christ.

Driving across Texas, last stop before I get start into the endless abyss of nothing that is middle Texas for gas and something to eat. Go to Chilis, seems safe enough right?
It was incredibly chaotic, stuff was constsntly being dropped and slammed around, loud people/music. The waitress seemed all over the place and fucked up the simple order. Food took forever to get there and was kinda luke warm/soggy when it got there. The water I was given tasted like soapy dish water mixed with tap water. I asked for another one when the waitress finally came to check after a ling while, same thing. I did not tip, and would never return even if I knew what town it was in.

Thats easy. Its seared into my brain as something I'll never forgot. I was driving home after a long day in a downpour. Rural area, not a lot of options for food. See a Pizza Hut, say fuck it lets do it. Go in and order a simple dish of spaghetti and meatballs. Wait for forever. It comes out ghetti is cold and balls are frozen. Wait forever again, its still cold. I send back a 2nd time and its still fucking cold. I curse them out and leave. Ive never been back to a Pizza Hut since and that was 10 years ago. The worst experience I had was when I was out partying until morning. In the morning I was going home and hungry so I went into some random burger place right as it was opening.
The people there looked at me like I was some kind of a freak and there was no menu. Felt too awkward to ask them what the options are so I just told them to get me a burger.
They gave me a bun with a burger, no sauce, no cheese, nothing, because I didn't specify what kind of burger I want.

Second worst is the first and last time I went into a Subway. I thought I'd just get a sub sandwich but the woman put me on the spot asking if I want X and Y and for me to pick all the ingredients. I have no idea what goes with what so I pick random shit and surprise it was terrible.

Ahhh I've notice this at certain places. Management pushes waitresses to sell more alcohol and waitresses typically get bigger tips from people who drink. She probably had a history of tables who didn't order alcohol having lighter tips than people she pushed alcohol on. You will typically get better service in the US if you are drinking.

I was hungry and had six bucks in my pocket. Can you say Little Caesar's?! I had one down the road and a steady stream of Hot and Ready pizzas helped me when I was making insane car payments.

They really do not care about the finer nuances of running a business, their mind just goes "this burrito place is doing well, I'll just buy this and I'll be doing good too", they never see the effort the current owners put to run the place, never mind the industry specific expertise it requires. Is sad when people only do things for money. As a kid my favorite restaurant was closed down but then bought up by a local white guy who re-opened just as it was before, same menu and everything. Even though he went on to buy other restaurants that were much, much more profitable, some even franchises, he still kept the small local one open that didn't get much business. It's amazing to me restaurants have been around for thousands of years and still so many of them don't understand not to serve spoiled food.

NYC rue 57, parents took me there on vacation and my dad ended up calling the maitre de on their phone to ask for more water. They took half an hour to bring the wrong food, tried to argue about it, took another half hour to bring the right food but by then I had walked back to the hotel on my own and ordered room service. Room service was delicious

I have generally had good dining experiences but two stand out in my mind

>1. Go to Vietnamese restaurant. Get menu, its all in Vietnameses english. Can't pronounce what I want, so I point at it to the waiter and say sorry I dont know how to pronounce that but that's what I would like. Some people just want to be miserable. He could be most of the posts in this thread, whining about non issues. People need to understand that going out to eat doesn't mean you own the restaurant or know better than the people actually cooking the food. One time I decided to finally try the much-touted Arby's roast beef sandwich. As soon as I walked into their empty (and frankly dilapidated) restaurant, the four employees behind the counter began shouting and giving me rude gestures. When I started to order, the cashier interrupted me by pounding on his chest and barking "what now bitch?" repeatedly.
I tried to tell him that I'm just trying to order, but he began to jump up and down. This prompted the other three staff to huddle up and join him in pounding their chests and jumping in a threatening manner.
I attempted to calm the situation by saying "one roast beef sandwich, please". All this did was enrage the feral Arby's staff. They began to holler "sandwich please" in a cruel and mocking tone, over and over again, as they jumped around menacingly.

Finally, dejected, I said "I'm sorry for offending you, have a nice day". I turned to leave but the pack of feral Arby's employees leapt over the counter into the dining. It was fortunate that I was the only customer there, because they began to jump onto the tables, tipping chairs, hanging off the lighting fixtures, and generally acting in an unprofessional manner.
Feeling threatened, I made a dash for the door when I felt a warm mass hit me on the temple. I looked down and saw that the projectile was an Arby's roast beef sandwich. I picked it up and took a bite. I was not pleased with this product.
When I told them I found the sandwich sub-par, the Arby's employees began to pelt me with roast beef sandwiches. I finally escaped the Arby's restaurant only mildly scathed.

Feeling unsatisfied, I determined to dine at my local, tried-and-true, reliable, and ALWAYS satisfactory Subway restaurant. I was treated to a warm and welcoming atmosphere by the highly professional employees, which helped me forget about my Arby's "experience". Not to mention, Subway's roast beef sandwich was very enjoyable, as is expected due to Subway's unmatched consistency.

When I was 10 I went to Chicago for the first time to vist family. We went to some famous pizza place to get real authentic deep dish. It took us an hour and a half or so to get our table. We didn't get our food or water for another hour and half and we had to reorder pur drinks multiple times and still never got them. Most of us didn't even get a bite in before my dad yelled us to stop, in which he pulled a giant glass shard out of his mouth. All of our pizzas where filled with glass, not tiny bits either, like as if someone broke a few glasses and used our pizzas to dispose of the mess instead of the trash. Manager accused us of planting the glass in the food and got in to a heated argument, ending in my dad flipping our table before we left. We then went to pizza hut and got the newly released bug new yorker pizza. I think that's also the only time I ever felt like my dad's retarded anger issues was ever justified. I really can't stress enough how big those glass shards where and how much was in our pizzas. It honestly was like we ordered broken glass as a topping.

They just continually try to sneak in without paying, and when they get caught try to negotiate the price, like the government has any room to haggle. You either pay the fee as listed or you don't come in, but they try to slip through when no one's looking.
