I grew up a mater hater but that changed when I tried my first BLT at like 16. I still understand why people don’t like them. Tomatoes have a goldilocks zone of like a few days at most where the texture isn’t repulsive. Even then, the slime and seed portion on the inside of it is never very pleasant. I typically scrape it into the trash when I’m doing my own tomato shit at home. Even furthermore, most people are eating supermarket tomatoes which I’m sure you all know why they aren’t ideal.

That was me up until like age 20. I think I just had a bad experience with a mushy tomato as a kid and decided I didn't like them. Ketchup and spaghetti sauce were still fine though. I've never and still don't like marinara, it's just a little too acidic for me.

Picky eaters 99% of the time are literal autists, subhuman retards. Their problem with a food is almost always ''muh texture'' and being confused. They find it confusing that a tomato has a hard crunchy outside but a watery and soft middle. The same plant having two different textures '''''''confuses'''''''''' them and causes them to sperg out.
To eat the tomato it has to be uniform for them. It has to be a liquid or a powder or mixed and fully incorporated into something else.

Raw tomatoes are very acidic and taste strong.
They're good in addition to other foods, like salads or sandwiches, but I would never bite into them raw. Same thing with olives.

There's really nothing to explain. Children are naturally put off by the slight tanginess from natural toamtoes, and the flavor is mostly completely overpowered by sweeteners in processed tomato sauces.

It's definitely not the confusing dual textures. It's exclusively the slimy innards. The tough skin can be a bit gross when cooked too.
