Turns out putting a thermos in an insulating case actually helps to retain even more heat, thus cooking your food faster! How many of you have already tried thermos cooking?

Why not just cook in whatever you boiled the water in?

I used to do this when I was a poor 20 year old. Wasn't glamorous, but it was cheaper than the vending machine.
>1/3 cup of rice
>1/4 cup powdered soup mix
>fill halfway with boiling water
It was ready and still piping hot by lunch time.
Tossing in some leftover meat and veggies would make it a proper meal, but only i you've got it.

He's not. But cooking outdoors food indoors is just weird

That's not how cooking works.
Cooking involves an active transfer of energy from a cooking element to the cooking environment
What you are doing is letting the energy already in the thermos reach equilibrium
This can produce edible food, in theory, but calculating the final temperatures with the different specific heats (different things don't reach the same temp with the same amount of energy) would be a ridiculous task

I can't possibly see this being useful as anything but a way to cook noodles or something with as little fuel as possible while camping
