Cooking takes too much time. Prepping, washing, peeling, cutting, dicing, rollng, kneading, stirring, whisking, boiling, frying, garnishing, cool down, finish you meal in 5 minutes, washing dishes, go the grocery store for more ingredients and doing it all again just eats too much time.
Delivery chads were right, all that time spent cooking could be used more effectively and it helps the economy by creating jobs
>erm dude, just spend even MORE time at the beginning of the week cooking so that you have stale food throughout the week
I honestly couldn't think of a less cost effective way of spending your free time

yes it is very easy to waste lots of time to maybe save $2 like a retard

also, foodtuber grifters are notorious for lying about this, saying it takes 15 minutes to make their recipe. Their incentive is to get people to watch their videos, so they rope gullible people in with this fast easy cooking fantasy. I am very selective about what things I cook myself

I haven't eaten food from a restaurant in 15 years. I make myself breakfast, lunch & dinner every day.

Morning I'll have some oatmeal, or eggs with toast, or sausage and hash browns in the air fryer.
Lunch I'll pack a sandwich from home in the morning, with a fruit, a can of diet soda and a bag of chips.
Dinner every night is different, I'll do a pork roast, steak, chicken rice bake, bean soup, shrimp stir fry, pasta, bratwurst, baked potato, caesar salad, etc. Easy weeknight meals.

Then on weekends I take my time cooking something fancier or exotic like boeuf bourgagnon, gumbo, whole grilled red snapper, schnitzel or fried chicken, char siu, pad thai, barbecue (ribs, brisket, pork butt or chicken), etc.

I don't have much of a social life other than seeing one of my friends or my family every couple of weeks, and even then it's usually going to my house or theirs for dinner then having some drinks and watching tv or a movie. I never felt like I don't have time to cook, what else am I gonna do sitting around the house?

I made bread for myself for the first time a few days ago and I now 100% understand Andrew Tate's sperg out on how cooking is a waste of time. Cooking is a waste of time if your time can be better spent somewhere else. I make ~$80/hr when working. Why in the fuck would I spend a half hour making bread when it's $3.00 at the store? I just lost $37 worth of my life to make a loaf of shitty bread that wasn't even as good as store bought.

If you receive genuine joy and gratification from cooking then have at it. If you cook because you are broke as fuck and it's actually more cost effective for you, then have at it. But if you're like me and have plenty of income and you are trying to cook to "better yourself" or to "stick it to the stores" you are a pretentious showy faggot.

But to answer your question, when you are dying and living out your last days alive, can you honestly tell me you'd be happy knowing you spent your entire life making money, and never experienced what it is like to bake your own loaf of bread?

If you look at everything at a "can I make money instead of this" angle, you're basically going to live a shitty, miserable life and miss out of a lot of life experiences.

I agree that people generally under-appraise their time (for instance, driving an extra 10 hours instead of flying for 2 hours because it saves you $100)
But there are certain things that are done for their own sake. I'll spend 8 hours making a desk out of $300 in lumber even though I can just buy one already made for $200, not for cost efficiency but out of love for the process. Same with baking sourdough. There is something inherently gratifying about fermenting the thing and getting it perfectly baked with consistent grain etc. Having bread to eat is a nice side effect. If I just need bread and don't have the time to bake it I'll just throw the starter in the fridge and go buy some.
It's all perspective anon. It's perfectly fine to waste a little time and energy if it's something you enjoy. Don't listen to some hustler retard. That faggot never built anything in his whole life and thinks he has any authority on telling people how to live.

Homemade food is simply better than fast food or prepackaged frozen goyslop from the dollar store. Even if you meal prep ten of the same meal for the entire week, every single one of those meals will taste better and be better for you than having mcdonalds every day. Also, yes you can think of a less cost effective way of spending your free time if you spend several hours a day staring at 4chan. If you're genuinely well-off enough to go to a high quality sit-down restaurant every single day then go for it, but if you're a normal person with a normal income then just make your own fucking food like an adult.

You yourself are normal. If you were rich enough to go to a high quality sit-down restaurant every day, you would have said so. Thus, you aren't special. You're not rich or a genius, and your interests aren't as niche as you'd like to believe. Moreover, if you can't see the significant benefit in taking some of the time you were simply going to waste on the internet and setting it aside to ensure your body receives proper nutrition instead of mass-produced seed oil slop, then you are a particularly low type of normal person. You don't have enough impulse control or attention span to be talking about the "cost benefit analysis axiom," and you certainly aren't using any of the time you've saved by stuffing mcdonalds into your fat face to any productive end.

>Delivery chads were right, all that time spent cooking could be used more effectively
I enjoy cooking, but not all meals needs to be a wreck-the-kitchen nightmare of prep and cleanup. Mix it up. Sometimes you can boil pasta in a large pot, clean 3 cutting boards, and steam veggies as well as pan fry. Sometimes it's a sheet pan dinner, or a one skillet meal. I'm sure about half the time, I have all but my dinner plates in the dishwasher at the time I begin eating. I tuck items I decided to no longer prep and cook and take an invite out to dinner, oh like half the time. My freezer gets a workout, or you can plan to have items that are flexible to your mood and energy. I have Smithfiled smoked pork chops in my garage fridge, with packs of bacon, tins of biscuit dough, smoked andoiulle, and a smoked turkey breast. These items will wait 2-3 weeks for my mood. Deep freeze has pizzas, baked ziti, steam in bag veggies and dumplins and other options for a rainy day. I never have to do delivery unless my oven + microwave breaks down unless my mood dictates Cheesecake Factory.
>and it helps the economy by creating jobs
So does shopping at the grocery. You should be eating for quality and your mood, ideally. If you rely on delivery, you are not getting the best textures, temperatures and freshness, fact. What you make should be worth the satisfaction to you or you're doing it wrong. Costwise, you can grill PRIME at home for the cost of any takeout.
