The 99 cent Arizona tall boy era is over
The founder of AriZona Iced Tea has been forced to consider increasing the price of the company's signature tallboy beverages as a result of President Donald Trump's tariffs on aluminum imports.

Newsweek contacted the AriZona Beverage Company via email outside of regular business hours for comment.

Why It Matters
AriZona has steadfastly stuck by its 99-cent pricing, despite economic pressures and inflation, which would otherwise push this to double that level. Vultaggio told NBC News last year that the company would "fight as hard as we can" to ensure cash-strapped consumers were able to buy the products at the long-held price.

I would've thought Arizona being so proud of itself would've used domestic materials, for shame outing themselves like this.

Maybe this is why Safeway have me a "personalized price" for Arizona cans through the end of the year, 88Β’ each. Personalized prices are unlimited use coupons so from now to December 31st, my price is 88Β’. When does the price increase go into effect?

The U.S can't make aluminium like Canada (Quebec) does simply because it would be cost prohibitive. Making aluminium requires vast amount of electricity. Do I need to reminds you idiots that 80% of your energy is still produced by burning fossil fuels?

Shiiiieeeet I havent had one in years but I have fond memories of being a broke ass teenager in high school on hot summer days scrounging up a dollar in change for an ice cold Arizona. Times are hard when you are a kid and you spend your only $10 bucks on weed and you get the cotton mouth.
RIP my sweet cold green tea

We have a 50% aluminum tariff on Canada which translates to pennies and them doubling the price is price gouging. All these companies are hoping they can raise their prices, the tariffs go away and they keep their prices the same

Tariffs increase the price on domestic equivalents because they shift demand to domestic equivalents. Unless the tariff is so high that imports are reduced to zero, international and domestic market-clearing price will always be ~equivalent. This is basic economics.
Anyway Arizona sold me a moldy tea last month so I'm boycotting.

Who the fuck buys ice tea? Just make your own sun tea for pennies on the dollar and make it as sweet or tart as you want. Add some lemons and make a Arnold Schwarzenegger, put it in a camelbak with some rum and walk around schoolyards.

I think Trump is a fag but this smells like corporate bullshit. They've probably wanted to increase the price for a while, and now they have a perfect excuse that won't piss off their customers.

Who buys tea anyway, though? You can make like 20 gallons of tea at home for a couple dollars
