Indians are poor but considering other parts of Asia, we aren't doing too badly, we're consistently getting people out of poverty, and fast.
We're considered one of the more "expensive" places for getting things manufactured and for overseas contract design work and IT. Thailand and Indonesia are considered cheaper than us but they are much cleaner

It's only a matter of people not recognising their civic duties at all and polluting everywhere
