Beef prices are high because of imports being down due to the screwfly. Long term they've been up because ranchers have been decreasing their herd sizes over the last several years due to drought conditions in the western US.
I think that inflation only being talked about in terms of commodity prices or CPI is some sort of psyop given that inflation is a monetary problem and the price of eggs or whatever has nothing to do with the rate of inflation. Inflation is only affected by the amount of currency in circulation.
