>pizza started because the rich italian nobles used stale bread as plates, then the 'plates' which absorbed the grease and sauce got donated to poorfags after the banquet is done
>fast forward a few hundred years, those poorfags' descendants now act like it's something sacred that can't be modified

that's not how it started at all
it started in ancient greece when people would top flatbreads with oil and herbs and goat cheese

Yeah retard, people get weird about food and tradition because it's things they grow up with. If your gene pool isn't diluted to the point of being an endless admixture, you could look back to the roots of a lot of your people's beloved foods and traditions and see how stupid they were, too.

According to Virgil's Aeneid, Rome itself was founded by the eating of flatbread trenchers. Aeneas' army became wandering nomads, exiled after losing the Trojan War to the Greeks, and it was prophecied by the Oracle that they would be cursed to wander until "they chewed at their own tables in hunger". One day, when exploring up the Tiber river in Italy, his soldiers were given a particularly sparse supper, so many of them resorted to eating their trenchers in attempt satisfy their hunger. Aeneas realized this, and in his native tongue a similar word was used for plate as for table, and proclaimed the prophecy to be fulfilled, and their wandering to have ceased, and upon that site they settled and built their town, which would one day become Rome.

Studying the classics is so fun and interesting. I miss my college English classes.

Anyway, I don't think pizza was invented anywhere, kind of like the pasta debate. It was esoterically invented outside of the legends and in more than one place, in more than one instance probably around the world nearly at once.

I used to live in NOVA/DC, and one of my favorite things to do was to morph storebought Za'atar bread, which was sold on the bread like like a literal stack of pitas, soft and fresh, into a pizza in my own oven. I had nothing to do with arabic flavor or fusion, nor pizza, it was just easy mode insanity that was terrifically delicious. The bread had an olive oil component that browned crispy too. I blows my mind that zero brands sell it that way around the country. Lavash is not the same, nor is Naan.

And "ketchup" was fish sauce imported from Asia until Europeans started substituting the fish with different, cheaper, options for poor people until landing on tomato, which is why some brands even still specify on the bottle it's "tomato ketchup".

Not OP and his line of thinking is retarded but i totally understand why lobster and crab are poor people food. They're alright but way more trouble preparing/eating than they're worth

Its fun that people think that the crab and lobsters served up to prison inmates in the 19th century would be anything like how it is in a fancy restaurant.
