I fix a coffee with half n half to drown the bitterness, and 2 sugars.
Maybe a muffin or a couple pieces of bacon. Usually someone has already contaminated the entire thing already, so I might just take the coffee and danish/muffin and wait til a local restaurant.

I love going to my local Marriott and comfort inn. I go back and forth every couple of days. It's like free food and no one cares if you get some. The Marriott is better though.

Yawn. Anyways, Marriott especially the Springhill Suites are the best and it's always free. High end Marriott you have to pay. Fairfields are OK but not as nice as the Springhill suites. I encourage everyone to go get some good free food!

Normally I'm a fat ass who eats whatever is in front of me, but if I'm staying in a hotel I'm on a mission. I can't afford to fill up on cheap empty calories or get bloated on anything decadent.
Oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, granola mixed together in a big bowl on the side. A plate of Eggs, Sausage, and whatever good fruit there is that wouldn't mix well with yogurt. Sometimes they have peppers and onions which are greasy but it's not bad to get a vegetable in there. Then I have a cup of Coffee with whole milk and see if they have a cup of any of the more uncommon juices like cranberry, grapefruit, or prune.

For like 25 dollars you can stay in some business hotels in Japan and they have all kinds of meats and fried chicken karrage, beef, eggs, noodles, fish, frigging EVERYTHING you need for a full day of traveling. I ate so much meat my God and all that was included or 500 yen more. It's crazy good.

I travel extreme amounts for work, sometimes 300 days a year. Over the past decade I've had more meals at hotels than at home. I'm stuck having to book mid range hotels, nothing fancy but not motels. I always stay at a Hilton or IHG property. Hotel breakfasts can be hit or miss because these chain hotels receive the same set menu, same bagged eggs, same sausage, etc but it's up to the hotel manager on how well the kitchen is operated and whether they want to add "extras." I've stayed at a place where the manager had fresh biscuits and gravy set up a few days a week, made there in the kitchen, and it made all the difference. The best hotel breakfast I've ever had was at a Hilton in Whistler Canada, but that's a ski resort so it's exceptional.

A quick power ranking of hotel breakfasts based off memory:
Good tier:

^Both of these hotels also have complimentary evening social meals Mon-Thu, they seem to take food the most seriously and it shows.

As for the actual breakfasts, my favorite is a black coffee, poppy seed bagel with cream cheese, folded cheese omelet, sausage, and cottage cheese.
But if the hotel is shit or if it's full of families and little kids at breakfast (meaning they have cross contaminated and rubbed snot over EVERYTHING) then I will just get a coffee and banana.
Always check your bread items for mold before eating them. I've come across more than a few moldy bagels.
Some places have the most acrid garbage coffee, I'll take orange juice instead in that case. But some hotels never wash their drink dispenser nozzles. You can kneel down and look up the nozzle and see mold.
Eggs are always trash straight out of a bag unless it's the little folded omelet. Hilton Garden Inn and Embassy Suites have cooks for made to order omelets.
I've never liked the way hotels do bacon, it's always way too thin, like eating bacon flavored paper.
Pastries are always consistent but I'm not a fat ass so I don't eat them very often.

I try everything at least once if I'm staying there 5 days or longer. I usually cook for myself so it's a real treat even if it's prepackaged generic stuff.
