so, is there anything particularly unique about "smashburgers" other than being two thinner patties? because that's kind of how double cheeseburgers are in general
It is better, meatball burgers suck, thin patties are better and you just stack if you want more , but I never understood if "smashburger" was a specific chain, or something like a local phrase idk

It's mostly the fact that the edges get all lacy and caramelized. It makes for a different texture and flavor. Whether you prefer that over more traditional, thicker patties that you can cook medium to medium-rare is up to you.
There's also an utilitarian nature of the technique since the patties cook so much faster, if you start toasting your buns at the same time they'll both be ready at the same time.
Also, I think "sando" came from woke culture because what I remember is that people called them "sambos" but today it'd be called racist, so they prob replaced it

A hot dog is called a "glizzy" as slang, largely popularized through the internet, because of its resemblance to the extended magazine of a Glock handgun, which is also referred to as a "glizzy". The term originated in the rap scene, specifically around the Washington, D.C. area, where "glizzy" was used to describe a Glock. The slang term for the gun then transferred to the hot dog due to their similar size and shape https://www.sportingnews.com/us/other-sports/news/glizzy-hot-dog-meaning-origin-nathans-eating-contest/m8cmyg4q5kczio7ic7m0rxpl

That doesn't mean anything though. So many of the oft-posted "memes" here are just pure nonsense. The argument over what they're supposed to represent is where the interest stems from.

Yeah every time I hear glizzy I just think "these niggas gay." When I first heard it I imagined it was playing off the "stop glazing bro" meme that zoomers also love so much. >ayo nigga finna giet my glizzy glazed yall hurr

Not in western canada they don't. I went to montreal once and never heard or saw anything about "steamies", all I saw was montreal steak spiced sandwiches and poutine. Oh well.
Fun fact, if you say poutine with a fake french accent (like you're saying "pu-tin" insead of "pu-teen") that actually means whore
