Funny enough I have always bought "good" coffee and it used to be expensive but I just soldiered on, now the cheap shit is also expensive but the good stuff hasn't gone up in price much. Since the gap between price of good shit and "cheap" shit is much smaller than it used to be, there's really no reason to fuck with the bottom shelf anymore. You can buy 100 caffeine pills (100mg each) for $11.49 CAD from Shoppers Drug Mart. Pop 1 or 2 per day. Cheap.

I turned to pills because store bought coffee makes me shit ALL day. Same for many cafes' "hippy dippy save the plenty organic fair trade" blends, Tim Hortons, etc. They're all burned charcoal shit.

McDonald's is literally the only coffee that doesn't make me shit and give me hemorrhoids and a "glass shards crammed in my asshole ring" feeling.

It's kinda fucked up that I can have 100 to 250mg of caffeine per day, and have 0 issues. I guess the answer is: NO, coffee is NOT good for you.

I don't just quit coffee because I need it to function. I work from home doing software tinkering, and I'm incapable of sleeping before 2am. Some days I must wake up at 8am for meetings, and if I don't fall asleep until 4am because I'm working on a side project I get pissed off, cus I know the next day I'm going to feel like shit. Theres too little time in 24 hours to make meaningful progress on shit. 80% of the time I just don't even bother setting an alarm and sleep in like a Chad. My obese manager doesn't say shit cus he knows my skills BTFO pea brain.

Or don't and just buy whatever coffee is roasted (and ground if you prefer) domestically. There's a certain brand that's based out of Seattle that's usually cheaper than other domestic brands. It's just the quality and freshness are considered questionable. But it's your money.

Coffee barely grows in America, it's not hot and humid enough in like 95% of the country. The "coffee belt" where the vast worldwide majority is grown is literally just the equator because that's where the coffee plants grow the best, they like infinite sunlight and high humidity. Most coffee in the world is harvested and processed with slave labor in south asian, african, and central/south american countries which is why the cheap stuff is so cheap. Growing and harvesting coffee is extremely labor intensive, each individual coffee bean is the seed of a coffee tree fruit and the fruit has to be stripped away and discarded. It's the same reason cashews are expensive

Because we can't grow coffee domestically. The only place we can reliably do so is Hawaii. There isn't a ton of land. They would have to cease all other economic activity, all other agriculture to just grow coffee and it would not be enough.

>American-grown coffee brands?
do we grow beans in the US other than Hawaii? I just brought some peaberry beans back from Costa Rica in my luggage. I wish I had bought more. Amazing.

I just buy the BOGO bags at publix if it's a brand I have liked in the past. It can vary from Starbucks to Community to Peets. I lean towards darker roasts, so your tastes may vary. Ideally, I'll buy my 2-3lb bags of whole beans at Costco. I have good luck just using the grinders there and using up a bag. Stays fresh and it's more consistent grind than my smaller burr grinder at home. I will sometimes buy the single estate/limited edition stuff in the Starbucks store, and get it ground before I leave. In the grocery, it'll be 10oz bag, but nearly double the size in the store. Same deal with Dunkin, where you get the 1lb bag on site.

Good luck shopping.

As to the coffee, I have good and bad news. Coffee has antidepressant properties not found in pure caffeine; it's the flavonoids and other phytocompounds. You're probably just reacting to them aversely. You should try to see if you react badly to black or green tea as well.

Also try combining it with L-theanine for a syngergistic effect.

>>21547356
>If tariffs are bad why are other countries tariffing us?
Because they don't have a choice. They also need to protect their own economies from the resulting surplus to prevent a crash. Example, if France sells a lot of wine to the US, and now the US is taxing imports of French wine, that means (in the short term at least) less wine is leaving France for the US since it's more expensive. In this scenario, if the French government doesn't respond with a tariff of their own on US wines, then the prices of wine in the French market might suddenly and steeply drop because they are still importing some US wine in addition to their own domestic production. This is bad for French wine producers and, if it's really bad, can force them out of business. In reality, we saw this happen at a larger scale between the EU and the US with liquor and wine, not just individual European countries.

the American Caribbean territories are all in the "bean belt". some of the most renowned coffee in the world grows in Hawaii.
the issue is American-grown coffee is built around small-batch gourmet varieties rather than mass production, and switching over takes time. The smart thing to do would be to increase the tariff incrementally to wean producers into growing it domestically, but the problem there is Trump only has one term and it's almost guaranteed any successive administration isn't going to maintain his long-term economic plans. So we either go all-in now, or never.

This video explains it very well, I think. If countries do not respond it's just signaling to the entire world that you can tariff them with no consequences. So even if it's painful short term doing nothing it's worse in the long run because of the foreign policy implications.

Like getting punched and not replying in kind, yeah it's more painful to get into a fight but you show you are not a cuck, otherwise doing nothing means you'll be the bullied kid of the class.
