What is a go to struggle meal for you? For me it's hot dog and rice.

I never eat those poverty meme foods like hot dogs. they cause cancer.

the main thing is rice. I cook it with whole cumin and coriander seeds, and then use it to fill a burrito with shawarma chicken, toum, sriracha, onions, whatever. I am copying chipotle but using whatever looks good. I wish I had those giant tortillas though

My mom would make it for me when I was a little boy. She would only use hot dogs, leftover rice, a little ketchup, and some salt and black pepper. Since I've grown up, I've added onions, paprika, and some umami seasoning. And the hot dogs are organic now

aren't they still preserved with nitrates/nitrite which is le bad

imo a better way to do that is like asians do. you buy frozen pork belly already cut into cubes. they also have beef and pork. in presliced frozen strips. then thaw and fry them when you make the rice

What are you on? BarS 8pk is a $1. 1lb of rice is a a tad over a $1. An onion is less than a $1. For $3 you have a few meals.

You don't have to eat unhealthy if you are poor. I like ground beef or even sirloin (when its 4.99lb), boneless skinless chicken breasts ($1.79 a pound), baked mac-less and cheese with goulda, cheddar and or Gruyรจre with ham. Homemade chipped beef over cauliflower, peppers, and onions. Cod, tilapia are very reasonably priced.

Stop getting fat and poisoning yourself with pasta, bread and rice among a few others. No excuses when certain meats, cheeses/dairy are still very affordable and you can have a nutritious meal over vitamin and mineral stricken carb (makes you fat) bombs "just to get by".

The corelle plate is a nice touch.

For me itโ€™s frozen meatballs, rice, and tomato sauce with a sprinkling of Kraft parm

Dont want to doomspost the struggle meal guy but these vintage corelle and pyrex are known for heavy metal toxicity in the decorative patterns (lead, cadmium) if its like pre-2000's.

Ground beef
Can(s) of tomato
Onions
Garlic
Dried basil
Salt
Pepper
A splash of vinegar
Half a head of cabbage cut into pieces

Just put everything in a pot, and cook it low and slow for a couple of hours.

Garlic (bought diced and frozen)
Bell peppers (bought diced and frozen)
Carrots (I grate these and freeze them in bulk)
Rice (2 minute microwave pouch)
Spinach (bought washed and ready to eat)
Prawns (bought cooked and ready to eat)

This is what I make when I'm not arsed cooking. I just throw it into a pan with some olive oil and fry for like 5 minutes, then mix in some sort of hot chili sauce. Sometimes, I'll have frozen salmon instead of prawns but that takes 20 minutes in the oven

Growing up it was chicken and gravy, tuna fish with english peas, or leftovers from the fast food joint mom worked at. I have not struggled since then because I remember those times and do my very best to stay secure financially.

I tried making sadza today, a common food in Africa. It's just maize/corn flour cooked in water into a thicc consistency. It's kind of like potato dumplings but a bit less firm. Very cheap, easy to cook and very filling.
