a lot of these zombie brands aren't even as good as they used to be.
a few megacorps own almost all of them so there's no incentive for them to make them good

I'm Russian an it goes as this for me personally:

Gansito > Russian Syrok > Twinkie

Not all Syroks are equal, however. It heavily depends on particular Syrok manufacturing brands, as it can be either utter sloppa shit, or perfection.

Main difference between Gansito and Syrok is that Gansito mostly uses souffle and usually has sprinkles, while Syroks are based on thick "cream cheese" custard and have very flat/even surface. Since Syroks are based on real dairy, they can't be stored in warm temperatures for very long, and even in fridge they'd better be eaten in two week's time tops. Gansito, on the other hand, essentially being a candy, can usually be stored for longer.

At the current day, the absolute Top tier of all Russian Syrok-making brands is considered to be "B.Y. Alexandrov" (picrel, premium quality packaging, top tier quality ingredients, great variety of fillings and always best state since the packaging is very sturdy and double-protected), but they're also the most expensive ones (averaging 70+ RUR per one, while other brands tend to be in 40-some RUR territory and lower. Absolute sloppa dogshit usually swims in the 16~18 RUR territory, while "decent" Syroks start at 28+ RUR and "good, but not overpriced" are in range of 35~45 RUR, anything over the "psychological barrier" of 48 RUR is either overpriced, or it's extra premium "tax" for top notch quality).

What is that? It's not a regular Twinkie snack cake. Since milk and cream are the first ingredients it seems like Twinkie ice cream.

This is the ingredient list for regular Twinkie snack cakes. It has tallow according to the official Twinkie site.

I used to think that I grew out of liking Fig Newtons around 1993 because my palette changed, the other day I bought some high-brow imported Greek fig spread and it tasted exactly the same as fig Newtons used to taste before 1993. Like somebody said, the small handful of mega corporations that own the food companies are more interested in marketing than quality

They expanded, I remember the older Twinkies, when they used to go bad they would expand and the wrapper would fill up with air. The way a marshmallow expands when it goes bad. Not stale like the current ones. Also go fuck yourselves for not understanding me and then making that my problem you little retreads

Most of these things had their ingredients cheapened for profit and shelf stability.
Hostess was recreated as an entirely new company because people missed many things and it is nothing like before.

>>21547146
Chewy was so good. Then they cheapened the recipe and it tastes like squishy sugary wax.

>>21546867

Candy and sugar breakfast cereals had the same thing done.
They changed the manufacturing to a cheaper method. Instead of 12 steps they cut down to 5, and use cheaper ingredients too.
Fruit loops for example once had each color the taste of the fruit it represented, not a uniform blended one.
Pops was in a foil bag and had a coating like a honey shell that went stale in a couple days of opening.
On and on.

Naked juice was really healthy hippie smoothies, then got bought by pepsi and turned into flavored apple juice with just enough other stuff to be the right color.

Breyers famously was milk, cream, sugar, then put gums and thickeners in even their best ones.

Few things last as quality. You have to keep finding the yet to be corporately jewed product to get quality. And it only stays how you found it for some years before you have to find new stuff.

Kix only has 4g of sugar per 40g serving while Reese's Puffs has 12g sugar. PB Crunch has 13g.

All three are corn cereals that are pretty shit and contain granola levels of caloric load. You're better off eating peanut butter flavored granola. A bowl of picrel is healthier than all three and tastes like peanut butter.
