if you have no meat, both

For me its the beans. Rice is just kinda filler. However, nothing beats after a few bites just kinda mixing everything together into a slop.

If he has no meat he shouldn't have made this. He should have just traded the unhealthy rice and beans for meat.

Now if you want to sprinkle a little rice or beans... maybe some mushrooms or peppers and onions on top of that meat as a seasoning or for a little variety, go ahead.

What you have right there is an incomplete meal that is heavily weighed towards the food you should strictly limit.

i'm imagining you sprinkling dry uncooked rice and beans and being confused as to why anyone wants to eat them

>thinking I meant uncooked

C'mon now. I know the lack of vitamins from not consuming enough meat may be getting to you but...

Anyways, I meant cooked obviously. Just sprinkled around sparingly. You don't need to go strictly carnivore and I wouldn't reccomemd that, but just add 2 spoonfuls of rice and beans right on the meat (That's what I meant by sprinkling) so it absorbs some of the taste and eat a little of it with each bite of meat so you can better stomach it. That way you can get the little bit of benefits from eating the rice and beans while "tricking" your body that you are eating more of the really healthy food (the meat) You should hardly notice it. <3

was wondering why you called it mexican rice, i grew up in texas calling it spanish rice, apparently we're the only ones that call it that (in the context of texmex specifically)
weird. didn't know

That's been a transition everywhere because annoying people consider it insensitive to call it "mexican" rice and insist it's more polite to call it "spanish." It's the same group of people trying to make everyone say "you folks" instead of "you guys." It's not really regional, you're just young.

The beans are more nutritious with some protein but in those portion sizes both have minimal nutritional value.
If the rice is brown rice it's beneficial for fiber if not it has almost zero nutritional value.
Both of them are served as side dishes because they are flavorful and dirt cheap to add value to an entree.
Hence a burrito that has a food cost of a dollar can generate a substantial menu price with a spoonful of beans and rice.

If meat, definitely beans. Beans taste great unlike rice.
