Probably not really, what it is is acting helpless to manipulate people around them, there's an idea that to be a good person you have to be fully accommodating of anything that could be considered an immutable characteristic, basically anything someone was "born with", which includes disabilities, which include mental illness. It's kind of like a religification of the concept of civil rights, where the greatest possible sin is being "ignorant", as if you pushed over a person in a wheelchair and told them to just get up. You have people who naturally understand the situation and will claim to be mentally ill and incapable to gain social leverage, because it will work, and if they're challenged it becomes a feedback loop and enhances their status because now they're being victimized by the most evil type of person imaginable.
