When it's not summer that's the actual world. I haven't been to a farmer's market this year so I'd say I haven't tasted a flavorful tomato in years. They're always available but if they aren't homegrown they're just all texture.
I need to get something good before summer is over.

I've also noticed this. They also hate onions, mushrooms and other delicious basic foods. It seems like a lot of younger people are incredibly picky and have the pallette of autism. That kind of super picky eating was frowned upon in my youth and picky eating autists were ostracized and made fun of. I was one of them and I learned/forced myself to eat all kinds of foods because I was tired of being the weirdo at social events who only ate the safe beige/brown food or ate nothing at all.

tomatoes were a new world food so wyhte ppl managed just fine for the first couple of thousand years without them
which is weird because when I think italian food I think tomato sauce based stuff but they didnt develop that till the 16th century so wtf were those dirty wops eating before hand. fish, grapes and olive oil

If I want acidity I add lemon, if I want something sweet I add honey, if I want to make something red I add paprika. I have 99.9% of my meals without tomato and I don't even dislike them, I just don't have this weird obsession with them. If they disappeared tomorrow I just wouldn't care.
If you can't cook without tomatoes then you're a pretty bad cook.

The first thing that came to mind was how do I replace the tomato in a caprese salad. I'm sure the Italians must have used something different before the tomato came to Europe.
