>mfw one of my first packs of instant noodles was a pack of expired Top Ramen Oriental Flavor my parents kept in a cupboard
>I actually enjoyed it
The soy sauce flavor tastes the same but the name change doesn't make me feel comfy. It sucks.
>>21558878
>Maruchan changed the name of their Oriental flavor too
>it's also "soy sauce"
I hate this planet.

What are they gonna do, retards on twitter think "Oriental" is somehow racist because it's old. Like, anything old is automatically racist, and needs boycotting.

It's still there, "Orient" means east, its counterpart is "Occident" which covers Europe and Asia to the west of the Middle East

Orient means to find ones position or alignment.
and you will never find me orienting myself around the orient.
I will disorient myself from any such place

Because some white Karen got offended on behalf of Orientals, who were more than happy to play victim once they learned of the opportunity.

That's the other, more commonly-used-today meaning, yes. But the Orient Express had nothing to do with finding a direction, and everything to do with being an express train to the eastern half of Eurasia

as a korean I don't really like "oriental" since it can refer to both east asians and middle easterners. it's the same as how bongs call pakis "asian." I'd rather be called a gook than have an implication that I'm the same race as indians or turks.

Here in SE Asia we use the word Oriental all the time. You can get Oriental BBQ sauce, Oriental mixed nuts, Oriental coffee. One of our major snack brands is literally named Oriental.
Only the West gets upset about this (mostly just US)

Sorta OP related but has anyone noticed the decline of the quality of the noodles in basic cheap ramen? Like your Maruchans, Top Ramens, Cup Noodles?

They all have like this floury, play dough taste now. Did my recent pack of noodles go rancid? It's happened to my recent cup noodles as well.

I haven't had this issue from foreign brands like Shin or Buldok but maybe the spice is covering up the taste of the noodles

I guess white people eventually decided β€œoriental” is close enough to a slur that it should be done away with. I’m trying to think of a word they could use for an American that would be analogous.

But the logo is still the same

As an oriental myself I have no problem with oriental ramen and I find the term funny and quaint but some people are very sensitive about the terminology so I have no problem believing that using the word "oriental" for food could land you in hot water with some orientals (or maybe just white people getting offended on behalf of orientals, who can really say)

that sub looks fucking rancid, imagine taking a bite of chewy beef-jerky bread with a giant 1/2 in slice of tomato covered in 1000 island dressing mixed with a slice of krakus polish ham .... savor that

I found a Panda Express in Bangkok after searching back alley ways for 30 odd minutes. It was right there on the map, where the fuck could it be?? Well, I finally found it in some ground floor apartment unit. Looked like an abandoned Ukraine flat. I could hear people talking in another room, which I presumed to be the kitchen. I stood there for a second, in awe that people are all getting their oriental PE grub delivered to them like Uber eats. That place was haunting.
