the food is forgettable for the most part, its not offensively bad or anything but I've never eaten anything from there that made me want to order it again.
the chain has become this weird cultural fixture because of how interwoven into the highway system it is (which means it is mostly competing with actual dogshit fast food for something to eat after spending 8+ hours driving and so stands out), the romanticized recreation of a country general store in the front section, and the country aesthetics standing out when every other restaurant chain is trying to look like a suburban minute clinic. it very neatly fits our internet age of everything revolving around manicured media visual appeal and this deep emotionalistic sense of longing and alienation while actually being a sterile mass produced corporate product with zero substance beneath the surface.
