Black plastic is made in a such a way that if you try to break it back down into beads to then be turned into rolls to be rests led , you will get nothing but QC issues with it. It becomes so brittle that the literal only solution is to throw it into the trash.
In most cases, black plastic is the regular plastic that has been recycled and restamped multiple times, sometimes even without leaving the factory. You take all your QC issue plastic (improperly formed, cracked, melted etc), break it back down to beads, reflow it out into a roll, and stamp it into a cheap black plastic for your cheap clients to use, without it ever going out the door.

To expand on how it happened at my factory, you'd take a big wheeled container that's like 2.5mx1m full of reject product to the recycling room, the plastic is fed onto a conveyor that goes into the granulator, that heats and shreds the plastic until it becomes little plastic beads, the beads are then heated and reflowed into a plastic roll which feeds out into a room next door, in the room next door, the plastic is rolled into cylinders and cut to length. You then take your recycled roll back out and feed it back into the machine

Food safe containers are made out of PET and PS which are designed to prevent chemical leeching up to certain temperatures.
Electronics are made out of industrial plastics like PVC and PC.
You can’t recycle one into the other and the color does not dictate what it’s made of. The stamp underneath the tray with numbers 1-7 indicate the material. This is entirely misinformation and this dumb boomer should have her account deleted.

Those things are 99% made from injection molding. Comes from regrind plastic turned into powder and melted into a mold to form whatever shape.
