No, I am just expressing my opinion. I'm not a picky eater and I do enjoy cheeses and fruit but this is just gross and something people do that fail at cooking.

>feta cheese and slices of mango
nobody said that. of course when you strawman the least appealing pairing possible it will sound gross, but there are plenty of cheese and fruit pairings that go great together. it's just basic charcuterie. or hell, cheesecake or danishes pair cheese with fruit and it's delicious. and what does it have to do with a "failure of cooking"? not everything you eat has to be some elaborate act of labour. you sound like an idiot.

I am being completely honest but ok have it your way. Everyone loves shitty cheese and fruit pairings and I am being a childish contrarian kek rofl and lmao. Actually I have a rather close buddy who worked in a 2 star Michelin restaurant that agrees with me on this very subject. Of course I do not expect most of the people posting on this board to be like actual decent or knowledgeable cooks. Anyways, I asked ChatGPT if any celebrity chefs commented on fruit and cheese pairings and the first thing that came up was this:

>Celebrity chef Manu Feildel (known from My Kitchen Rules) has a notably strong stance: for him, cheese platters should contain only three things—cheese, butter, and bread.
>He even goes so far as to dismiss popular accompaniments:
>“I don’t understand fruits and cheese together.”
>“Traditionally, it’s cheese, butter and bread—and that’s it.”
>So if any chef is anti–fruit on a cheese board, it’s Manu Feildel.

Also when you go to a bar what do you get with cheese? fruit? No, you get cured meats pickled things and bread/crackers.

No, I just had a chicken liver sandwich, I'm not autistic about food one bit. I simply find most fruit and cheese pairings redundant and I have been served these plates one too many times at dinner parties by lazy people that suck at cooking and can't be arsed to put together any kind of decent aperitif. I honestly didn't realize this was this much of an unpopular opinion. The last one I had btw fairy recently was feta cheese with unripe pear. the cheese always overpowers the fruit with a few exceptions.

This is an aperitif.
A cheese and fruit plate is a cheese and fruit plate, not an aperitif.
Cheese can be served alongside other aperitifs. Maybe some fruits like grapes or lychees can also be part of the aperitif. You can serve Chips as an aperitif but Chips are by definition not an aperitif exclusive dish. Picrel is.
