I don't think it's worse than any other hobby board. but the bar for content here is really, really low compared to other hobby boards, and any criticism of that gets labelled as negativity which is nonsense. just look at the catalog and how many threads are up at any given time of people just blogposting about their totally mundane slop on a plate. on no other board do people post such low effort content and expect to be praised for it. if I posted something equivalently low effort on like /lit/ or /mu/ I would be met with a much harsher reaction than you get here. for some reason people on /ck/ think it's ok to post low quality content and still get the same level of discussion you would on other boards.
seriously just post some half decent looking food that you put a modicum of effort in, or at least try to make your thread interesting instead of just "look at my food", and it will be better than 90% of the posts on here and get positive engagement. of course there's still going to be trolls tearing you down for no reason, but that's just 4chan.
