there are ways to reduce the gas

also i find that it depends maybe on the bean and just overall how well my gut is doing. sometimes i eat beans and have no gas, other times i have so much gas it even bothers me. apparently some spices and herbs reduce gas too.

If it was tasty AND healthy, do you eat it every day? Do people from your country eat it every day? Would you feed beans to a child every day? Has a child ever said to its mother "mom im really craving some beans today"? Is there any fine dining restaurant that serves beans as its signature food?
>they're mostly carbs but still a decent source of protein
Ive never heard a professional athlete say they eat beans as a part of their diet. Ever. Chicken, fish, greens, fruits, sure. Never beans.
>easy to grow, harvest, process, ship, and store
And nutritionally crap.

>Would you feed beans to a child every day?

>Has a child ever said to its mother "mom im really craving some beans today"?
yeah i asked my mom for a bean and pasta dish sometimes as a kid

>Is there any fine dining restaurant that serves beans as its signature food?

that just means your diet doesn't have a lot of it, or that your digestion system ain't used to it.

>beans
>leafy greens (like spinach)
>dairy (heavy cream esp)
Not limited to these foods, if your diet isn't used to eating em often, sudden introduction will lead to gas and possibly a stomach-ache (intestinal pain, since it's more like in the large intestine that it occurs iirc). It'll also occur to children more since they lots are picky eaters or in general don't have much experience with a wide variety of foods.

Most people who have a shit diet full of processed foods, simple sugars, and little variety are gonna struggle for at least a week before their bodies get comfortable with different fibers and complex carbs.

I also think breads might also do it, but not entirely certain.

Have you tried soaking em the day before? I always did that. A pressure cooker makes em super fast but also might make it easier to eat (idk, that might just be thoughts out of my ass). Pork + beans in an instapot would be done in < 1 hour prob.
A LOT of the issues may also be from just the outside skins. After soaking em, the skins are often real easy to peel off - just rub em between your hands and scoop the peels that sink slower than the beans so they're more on top. Don't aim for 100%, but go for like >50% so you only waste a handful of minutes instead of like an hour.

I dunno, if I soak my beans overnight in salt water I am less gassy. Ive noticed if I use canned beans in recipes and I dont rinse them off first, Im lifting off into the night..
Im about to eat some chili I made that has 3 different beans in it. So good.

This thread is chock full of coo/ck/lets. Soaking beans beforehand helps with gas, as does eating them more (gut microbiome skill issue).

>>21579149
Most people only need 10-30% of their calories to come from protein. Most beans are about 20-25% protein by calorie. Let me guess, you need more?

you gotta embrace the gas as that is natures way of you satisfying bowel movements. I just got back from alaska and for 90 days I had beans about every night. You can lose a good amount of weight on the humble bean diet. I never needed anything else, just 4 spices including salt satiated me all night long.

soaking easily chops off at least an hour when cooking stovetop beans. And for lentils, at least 15 minutes.

That's because your lactose intolerant. Very common for nonwhites. I'm so glad I was born into an upper middle class white family (parents pulling in over $75k a year before the government takes half of it to trans the kids, thank god for based DOGE). We make to much money to eat noxious, foul-smelling diversity food like that. Maybe you should go back to you're country.
