I know your pain. I know of a pawpaw grove in my area that inexplicably goes untouched by other locals and I worry what the lack of rain might mean for the fruit. I've not gone to check.
Also, freeze, thaw, wash, slice and dry your oysters then powder them. One of my favourite spices to work with and completely free.

Yes, Illinois but as far south as possible. We have several places for chicken of the woods(pic related) in both spring and fall. There is a spot near a lake where we pulled out 86 pounds of maitake/hen of the woods. We left more in the woods. But if we don't get some rain soon ....
