The worst part about Indian food is biting into whole spices. Cloves are the worst for this.
I don't get why they can't be bothered to take them out.

In the US it's generally the job of the cook to make sure that everything they're serving is edible. I know it's different in different parts of the world but we don't check our fork before every single bite here

My mom ALWAYS left the allspice and bay leaves in the soup so I've been trained my whole life >>21582706
They're edible though. Just not very pleasant.

I was eating a sauce with cloves today, which during eating I prompty moved to the side of the bowl. The sauce was really good so I licked all of it from the bowl only at the end to find out that I ate the cloves too. Somehow didn't even feel them at all.

unless you exclusively eat canned, tendies, fillets and steaks, yes
you ever had like a nice fish gumbo with everything chopped up into chunks and covered in sauce? there's every chance you can be ambushed by a fishbone in a bowl of those
I just read that Djarum Blacks are still made with whole cloves in Indonesia where they're from, can anyone confirm this? The last time I bought Blacks at a tobacco shop in the states they were tobacco cigarettes peppered with cloves, not the cigarettes stuffed with full cloves like I remembered from when I was younger. I'd like to order an Indonesian pack of them sometime but would like some confirmation if someone can take a photo of the tip of one of them to make sure

i bought some in ecuador in 2016, they reminded me of the djarum black you used to be able to buy before 2009, cant say if they are exactly the same but they did crackle as they burned

I use a cone coffee filter needle and string to make a pouch for my herbs. I fill the filter fold it in on itself and do a pillow stitch on the top. It allows the herbs/spices to permeate the broth/base and remove it without having to pick them out for gravy from the roast liquid. It's far from an original idea but it really saves time and straining.

clove is like cumin, sage, and nutmeg. it's delicious when barely used and repulsive when overused. these are all spices that nobody should ever say "ooo I love the clove/cumin/sage/nutmeg in this", because that means you've used too much. use just enough to add some magic without drawing any attention to itself

What's wrong, too much pride to lick your plate clean? Too embarrassed to act how you want in your own home? Are you shamed by the sight of your own naked body? Must you pray the rosary when you touch your own penis in the restroom?
