despite throwing everything they had, a big expensive on-location commercial with basically a broadway cast and Jessup Alexander hopping though the whole thing on his toes and owning every moment of the lens, that sandwich fucking failed and years later its distant offspring fucking failed too.

would have been better had they cast Lo Pan

It addresses a legitimate problem but the extra cost, along with "the container is destroying the ozone layer" were more important to consumers than wilted lettuce. Market research showed that one of the main complaints about McDonald's food by higher income consumers was the quality, with low quality produce being one of the main issues. Beyond the earlier mentioned issues, McDonald's wasn't able to get higher income consumers to even try the McDLT, mainly because going to McDonald's wasn't part of their routine.
By the time they realized the high income consumers weren't going to appear, the product had the stink of failure all over it, so even repricing it to their traditional customer base didn't help.

every effort to court the high-income mature demographic fails when it comes to fass food.

even though I think they secretly do eat this shit, they just get nuggies and burgers and happy meals like everyone else

I've eaten out of the trash before. I regret all of it and it's burned into my mind as a trauma memory. Thanks anon.

It was actually a great burger, only second behind the MJ BBQ Burger Mickeys did in like 92.

I made them when I worked at McDonald's. They seemed silly to me at the time and were not popular. You can get a quarter pounder deluxe today and it's basically the same thing except for the silly hot side/cool side packaging. But honestly, if I'm going to McDonald's, I kind of expect the ketchup-mustard-pickle-onion thing, not the mayo-ketchup-pickle-onion-lettuce-tomato thing.

Why are you being defensive? OP isn't making a statement about this one way or the other.
