Formal/Special Dishware
Do you have a set of dishware specifically for formal or special occasions (Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc)? If so, what is it? If not, why not (being a student is an acceptable reason)?
If you live with your parents you can answer with their dishware.

For me, its uranium glass but i've had guests refuse to eat on it occasionally

I have a set of fiestaware that my father in law bought for us the christmas before he died and we've been saving it away in our closet to use when we're finally able to move out of my parent's house again into our own home.

Of course that was almost eight years ago, and we never moved out, and now we're divorced, and the fiestaware is still in the closet, it's never been opened. Mine is mulberry purple.

>mulberry purple fiestaware
Fiestaware is nice and thats a pretty unique color I think. I hope you get to move out soon and use it, but have you tried using it while at your parents house? Its a shame that a nice set goes unused

My aunt has fiestaware that her mother passed onto her sitting in her attic, but its the old orange radioactive kind, more radioactive than uranium glass. She had no idea it was radioactive until i brought up fiestaware in conversation (at which point i didnt know she had it)

That's neat, I didn't know it used to be radioactive.

It'll get used eventually, I honestly don't have the space in my parent's house for more tableware. My brother got a set, too, and we'll probably end up using it when we move out together.

only the old fiestaware thats orange or red, other colors are not radioactive

Thats nice, and joining two sets means you can host more people with it. I hope it sees use

I’ve got a Christmas set and a general fancy set (both inherited). I don’t think I could associate with someone that bought a set of Easter dishes.

I inherited from my grandma a 6-set of Unicorn Tableware Asiatic Pheasants (pic related mine is a darker blue). They look very fancy and I eat on them, instead of the drab white no brand ones. Why should I keep them to gather dust in a cabinet? They make dinner a more pleasant experience for me.
