Once ordered from a new chinese restaurant a friend recommended to me and while most of the food was mostly fine the pekin duck was fucked. Not only it was strangely dry they delivered it wrapped in a plastic sheet formed into a compressed meat tube that looked like an aborted fetus.

During Covid (but like as we were coming out of it) I ordered some food, had tipped nicely, and instead of the black chubby guy I expected, this scrawny white guy with muscular dystrophy or something gets out of his car in the middle of the street, starts yelling at me about how Covid is a hoax (I didn't say shit about Covid) and FLINGS my now opened bag of food he obviously rooted around in at me, instead of handing it to me.

I yelled "if anyone needs protection from Covid it seems like you'd be top of the list buddy" and it was clear he wanted to fight me but he could barely walk, much less fight.

They refunded my order but the place was closed so I had to eat a can of soup. It was annoying.

Doordash delivered the wrong order and refused to refund. Haven't used them since.

Worst was also best. I'd ordered just for me and my wife. They took 20 minutes longer than they said. When they turned up, they dumped a shitload of food on me. Like scooby style burgers with everything in, two of them, loaded fries, even desserts. I rang them up and said that they gave me the wrong order. Seemed incredibly sorry. Brought my order round within 10 minutes, I tried to give them the original one back, they refused, said they couldn't. Also gave me a refund on my original order even though they delivered it eventually.

My street is divided by a park/ netball ball court so it can be hard to find, so once I had to walk down to end of it to get my food, once it got delivered to a wrong address (got a refund) and then one time I was watching the driver go to wrong side of the street again driving in circles and I started raging about it only to realize that I was my app was glitching and the driver was standing outside my door listening to me be a spaz.

I've been doing door dash on and off for a bit of extra money and stealing orders is so easy I've imposed a moral limit on what I steal. Is this order less than 25 cents a mile? I got another delivery horror story. Used to get a guy that ordered like $130 worth of shit from dominos every week, dude was in a wheelchair so you had to go inside his house (obviously unkempt due to poverty and his handicap) and put all this shit in his moldy fridge. I don't even mind he didn't tip outside the frustration of being the one who had to deliver it, sometimes you just see pure human misery and there's nothing you can say but "have a good one man" as I leave him in a house he will die in eating nothing but dominoes for multiple years. I think I've become more nihilistic after some of these things, humans are animals unless they have enough money to convince themselves otherwise. Anyway got another delivery saga, this one is me being a manager tho. Dude makes an order 10 minutes before we close, have one other order for pickup. 3minutes out of the oven and maybe 8-12 minutes away for delivery. Dude calls in saying his pizza is cold. I tell him that's impossible. He keeps going. That was the one and only time I called someone a nigger. He threatened to kill me and I laughed telling him I know his address. Didn't order anymore, good riddance

I have two that I can think of right off the bat.
The first one, wasn't the food that was the issue. I used to live by myself, I'm not a big guy by any means and not a fighter. I got SUPER drunk and decided to order a pizza. Over a half hour or so I'm playing video games in my room. The rest of the lights in my apartment are off. Suddenly I hear someone saying something from my living room.... WTF. i open my bedroom door to see this gigantic fucker standing inside my apartment, but only the light from the open front door is lit so i only see his silhouette. Then I notice he's holding a pizza book right before i start freaking the fuck out. The dude let himself in my apartment....I must have forgot to lock the door, but still. He looked all cracked out and sketchy as fuck. I just remain calm and get the pizza from him. Never ordered from that place again. I considered calling and complaining but didnt want to potentially start shit with this insane person.
One other time,different place. Was ordering from Dominoes....which I would only do late night drunk. Notice the pizza fuckign STINKS....like bad bad. fuck it...hungry eat it.
Happens again...notice its the same driver, but this time I went outside to meet him. His car was literally full of trash, I couldnt believe it. The pizza stunk again....pretty sure it was just nasty air from his car....anyway, totally disgusted I did call and complain and he never delivered to me again.

Oh shit. I got one more. Not really a horror story. But this one guy would deliver to me almost every time i ordered pizza. He seemed like a cool guy. I would always tip super good. 20- bucks on top of whatever my order was. I guess he knew when i would order and started bringing over extra 2 liters, sauces, and sometimes like little snack things on the menu. HE started hooking me up even more. Knew him by name at this time. Didnt deliver awhile. Called the store to ask if he could deliver. "fired from stealing from the store" rip.

Got another one. There was a nigger-containment area we delivered to briefly, but, at the time I was at Papa John's, we could send orders to door dash to help with delivery times. I got the manager code and anytime I saw an address to that area immediately sent it to door dash when I was in store. Eventually got the other drivers to do it to, which is pretty funny because if you don't tip, door dash just gives you a flat fee of 2.25 in my area, so these orders would just pile up with no one accepting the delivery. Very satisfying to tell some ghetto dweller that we routed their order to door dash and knowing that no one would take it lol

Another one isn't as sad or weird as the others, just curious. I worked at Marco's right next to a jimmy John's, but for some reason every day this dude wanted a cold ham and cheese sandwich from us. We had a license to handle raw foods because we served salads, but he was the only one requesting a cold sub, despite having a sandwich stop next door offering way better quality and price. Idk why he did this, but it was everyday. Eventually he stopped ordering and I sent a driver to check up on him because I was worried he died, but he was ok but his wife passed away. He moved away to be with his son but that always kinda stuck with me, like if he varied his order would I have noticed or cared? Idk, it's scary to me

Ordered a pizza from dominos and it was raw, like the crust was still dough that you could stretch. Called them and they said that they had no available drivers and that I had to take it back myself. I did and only after getting there and the staff examining it they made me a new one and had to wait another 15 minutes.
In hindsight I should have pressed a complaint and demanded that they give me my money back because I paid for delivery but I think that I just wanted to get back home.

The absolute worst thing is that sometimes restaurants themselves will use doordash regardless of the customer's choices. I don't have the app and have never and will never use it. One time I ordered from papa johns nearby and I got the tracking in their app. Well, an hour and a half went by and there was no pizza anywhere. Then the app said my food was delivered. I called the place and asked them what the hell man and they told me it was the doordash driver who pilfered the food and that it isn't the first time it happened. Thankfully they refunded my order and actually gave me 50% off my next whole order, which I placed the next day after they assured me they won't be using doordash again

I used to do delivery for the local senior center and one house on the route stunk so bad you could smell it from the outside. Worst part is you had to go into the houses to make sure they were alive/otherwise not hurt. I sat in my car for 5 hours, 4 days in a row and didn't get a single fucking order, then a week later I sat in my car for 3-4 hours for 3 days in a row and the same shit happened.
