is sauerkraut on hotdogs any good? what does it add? thinking about trying one with mustard and sauerkraut, and another with mustard, sauerkraut, ketchup, relish, and diced onions.

I don't like sour things on my meat so I think its a shit hotdog condiment but a lot of people seem to love it.

Depends on the sausage. High meat sausages, yes. Shitty ones like oscar meyer etc, not as good.

regrettably, that, and reuben sandwich are the only ways sauerkraut is used in american cuisine
sauerkraut is already ass because it's usually too watery and it's not used anywhere either, so I'm really sad about all of that

You're damned right it is, it's the New York way. Mustard, sauerkraut, and onions--although our onions are a unique onions-in-sauce kind of thing.

I hope they taste better than the supermarket jarred sabrett kind because those went straight to the trash, raw diced onions much better

Huh, when I used to get Seattle dogs back about 20 years ago they were cream cheese + spicy mustard + sauteed onions, no jalapenos or sriracha.

Germany should be a Currywurst.

Bratwurst, curry-ketchup sauce, fries/breadroll, often with onions.

Yes. Crunch & sweet-sour (and probiotics/Vit. C). Mustard's the best with it. Relish will add a lot of sweet, so be moderate with it and the ketchup. Pickled onions are great for sweet contrast with kraut. You can bratwurstificate other sausages using the relevant spices as condiments on top. Enjoy.

The juices should be drained if not daubed off for the sake of the bun, yea.
Anonymous No.21597176 [Report]
if i could guess it would be one of two things.
1. traditional german expierence where tube meat orginated from.
2.if all you are haveing is a hot dog sauerkraut, is the vegtible protion of your meal.
you have carbs in the bun, fats and protien in the hotdog, so you have sauerkraut for the fiber/green/veg portion.

when providing food to the public, if you want to do it conscientiously you should have some basic understanding of good dietary practices.
and dont give me mustard and ketchup bs which is mostly sugars (and yes even cracked mustard is sugars)

I always make half of my hotdogs mustard, kraut, and onions and the other half mustard, chili, cheese, and onions. Sometimes I even get a little bit crazy and put some of everything onto one dog.
