The Government of Australia runs a pretty powerful campaign to promote the worst of the worst because they are so in bed with Colesworth that the economy would collapse. Pure garbage like Timtams, vegemite, fourandtwenty pies, and so on are forced upon us and we are told daily that these are so good (despite the fact they are rapidly declining in quality) and so Australia (despite the fact that all the companies are owned by foreigners).
Its quasi-illegal to use native Australian plants as farming crops. They'll get some literal-who "aboriginal elder" to decree that it is offensive to grow that crop because it is sacred, so you'll be shuffled around from farm to farm in different jurisdictions, and if you aren't bankrupt by that lawfare they will send stand over men to come fuck your farm up. These native plants don't use much water, they taste pretty good, and are viable to sell at weekend farmer's markets because there is a huge demand. Sadly, water rights are not considered assets worth even declaring when a minister enters parliament and add into the fact that it also threatens the Western monoculture crops, the picture becomes clear.
I'd like to start a proper fingerlime farm in the USA one day to escape all this bullshit. I know in my heart that it'll thrive on the open market and that Australia is doing its best to prevent it from being introduced to the world.
