>open pastabox
>Cook half of the pasta
>Close the box
>Throw it away after a month
>Buy new pasta box
This must be some kind of conspiracy

why? I have pasta that is over 5 years old.

But what if I need more? Have you considered that? What if I need more than half a box next time? So I must get another pastabox and that makes two, or more like one and a half, and I Know I'll need less than one (whole) box rendering the older box that has been opened pointless.
I do not need two boxes and I don't need one and a half, I now own an entire unopened box of pasta so shouldn't I dispose of the previous one? Yes, I think I should, why not? After all. I have more than enough pasta

>But what if I need more?
you literally said:
>Cook half of the pasta
and that you do this all the time.

no, there's still no reason to throw it out. it will last for literal years. I'm sure at some point in that time frame you will use it if you eat pasta with any remote regularity. if you save the leftovers from several boxes of pasta, eventually you'll have a whole extra box's worth.

I just put the entire leftover box in a gallon ziplock and let it sit for 3 more years. Actually I don't because I always use it before then.
