Essentially you want to get on a cheap 1/day DHT-blocker (no side effects for most people) like 1mg Finasteride (good) or 0.5mg Dutasteride (better) while young as it's the conversion of testosterone into DHT that poisons the hair follicle overtime reducing bloodflow/nutrient delivery to it. That prevents balding from happening at all and is the most well-tested root (heh) cause treatment. If hair is thinning you can make it thicker with either minoxidil (you've seen it marketed as Rogaine, but it needs applying to the scalp twice a day) or replacing your shampoo with one using Ketoconazole as the active ingredient, 1% Ketoconazole shampoos you can get over the counter (it's okay) but the 2% Shampoo is by prescription only and works better.

OP is giving half truths. The improved minoxidil absorption was caused by using Stevia crystallized into hard microneedles for minoxidil delivery instead of applying minoxidil directly on scalp skin. This is much more efficient that metal microneedles and there is no risk of infection. The Stevia microneedles melt in the body togetehr with minoxidil.
