They don't have compressor based efficient heat pumps, they use shitty thermoelectric effect based solid state heat pumps. These things have an efficiency of as low as 10%.
The smallest fridge with a compressor you can buy are those 18L fridges you find in hotel rooms. Those work quite well, about as well as you would expect any other fridge
