>Feel dread, finish fast and ask for check
>While I’m eating, catch him and others looking a few times
>After asking for check, catch server polishing glass while facing my way and glancing
I’m actually upset they all made a weirdo feel uncomfortable though but am I in the wrong for eating alone at the fancy restaurant? Do you order take out or do you just not go to the hotel if you don’t have company?

Just be brutally honest with me, is it weird to make chefs work their asses off to make a nice plate to impress 1 person like he’s a hot shot?

People eat alone at fantsy restaurants more often than they do at mom & pop places. Businessmen and diplomats are always traveling first class and have their quiet time meals before and after hotel check-ins etc alone all the time.

Litchrally nothing out of the ordinary about it at all. Also, any restaurant that seats you is expected to give you full normal service, unless your rhude or some shit. Granted if this place was actually 5-star (let's be honest, it wasn't THAT fucking fantsy) it would be unusual to wear jeans and polo, but if they gave you a table you should be treated as every customer.

It sounds more like you suffer from paranoid delusions and everything about your visit was 100% normal and forgettable by all others involved.

Maybe it was the dress code. It is the fanciest restaurant at my country’s second biggest city, it’s on the top floor of the city’s landmark, pretty fancy. Everyone was wearing suits so maybe I should have worn at least a shirt, maybe that was the issue
I thought it wouldn’t be weird to eat alone for that very reason as well but I wanted to kms from all the looks, like I thought I was better than them or something, like I asked the chef to impress me rather than filling my starving stomach, but maybe they were upset I didn’t dress respectfully, that makes sense… I thought polo and jeans would be fine but with hindsight probably not
I will keep this in mind for next time, at least maybe I’ll wear shirt and pants
