What did america unlessh to the rest of the world?

If your people are eating at places that do this, your people want it. Don't blame us for businesses asking for money and people handing it to them.

Do amerifats really do this?

it's a tax that only applies to white people

>15% service charge
This is not a tip then. They're just being dishonest about the price of the meal. I would prefer everyone pay a fixed 15% service on every bill than make it optional and "tip what you feel like."

they're just doing this to force people to get on board with robots serving them food

No, it's a way to have the customers pay the staff instead of the employer.

I shan't be paying at all

The margins on food are always thin so there is no shortage of food service providers who will do scummy shit to scrape an extra buck. It's an eternal series of gambles hoping that the customer will accept an increase in price or a sneaky fee or a lowering in service quality or a decrease in portion size or a downgrade in quality. I rarely eat out anymore for this reason. I dislike being treated like a retarded paypiggy, other people can have that if that's their thing.

As an American who was in London last month I told them to take that shit off my bill whenever they tried to pull that since I'm not going to be forced to tip outside of America. That crap shouldn't spread to other countries.

Did they take it off at your request? Did they give you a hard time about it?

At all the places where I encountered it, it was an "optional" service charge that they had to remove if you asked. They definitely tried to guilt trip me that it wasn't that much and asking if there was something wrong with their service but it's just 5 seconds of saying no and they take it off.

I was alone so I didn't care if I looked cheap and I'm not going to fucking tip in a country that supposedly doesn't have tipping culture.

This sort of dogshit is insufferable. People would rather look at a lower menu price and then pay 30% more after the fact rather than just honestly have the price of the meal made known from the get-go.

The worst part is I can see it easily catching on since either people won't notice or they won't want to embarrass themselves in front of whoever they're with by having it taken off the bill. Devious bastards.

Shit all ways round. As a restaurant owner would you rather do this, or be honest, put up prices by 20% and potentially go out of business because the pyschological difference means you lose a bunch of custom.

If you want to help your business by being slimy and dishonest then feel free. You might gain or keep more customers than you'll lose customers like me who would rather not be blatantly lied to, that's your gamble to make.

Both are correct, but per cent came first, from per centum.
