I'm getting a wisdom tooth extracted and need some inspo to keep myself nourished. I had one out last year and was woefully unprepared for how traumatic it was and how long the recovery was. I can't survive on just gelatin and codeine this time around.

Any ideas will be appreciated, happy to cook from scratch but prepared/shelf stable options would be good too

Are you any good at soups? Seems like a nice vegetable soup with everything finely chopped would go down pretty easy and in the early days when the hole is still sore you could just set out a bit and wait for it to come to room temperature before drinking it.

yeah soups are fairly okay, I'm thinking just some orzo or rice with things like frozen peas, or just finely diced as you say and cooked until very soft

might get into cream soups and see how I can best get some meat in there

>>21675651
yeah this is the issue. I don't have a blender and I really don't expect to have one by mondee

i should do this anon, great idea. yeah dry socket sounds like an absolute nightmare, I healed fine last time but it took like a month before I could brush without the wound bleeding. I do enjoy terbacky but didn't smoke for a full week just to make sure it healed properly

Maybe some rice pudding? You can add a few things to spruce it up a bit too. With it being fall I always have enjoyed a butternut squash soup, since it is blended all you need to do is sip.

It's probably best to avoid foods that tend to get stuck in extraction holes. They give off a horrible smell, like a stronger version of plaque.

the bottom ones hurt a lot more than the top. you'll want to get protein shakes or make your own with protein powder to promote fast healing. if you lived on jelly last time it's probably the reason it took so point to heal.

First thing: get weed. That will make everything taste better and the time pass more quickly and stimulate your appetite and help numb the pain. Then make soups. Pureed rich ones like broccoli cheese or biercheese. Black bean blends up well too. Cook your onions in bacon grease to add calories so you can eat fewer times per day. Heavy cream in the soups. Butter. Get some frozen fruit bars to suck on. They're good when you're baked. Pudding maybe. Just get blasted out of your mind. Goes well with pills.

I know of at least one Italian soup that uses sausage. My dad used to make a potato soup with finely diced ham that also fit the bill. These days what I usually use in my soups is a beef shank, people don't know about them so they're still cheap and you get some bone with marrow that can impart some nice flavor. You also don't have to prepare them at all, they're really several small chunks of meat held together with connective tissue that melts away overnight in a crock pot so you shouldn't have trouble chewing. Go for ones with small bones, I've found that the ones with bones tend to fall apart and then you're fishing them out in pieces.

Someone else mentioned butternut squash and that's definitely a solid option, I ate a lot of that as a kid. You might also want to look into lentil soups. Some time ago I got a bunch of red lentils for free and found a recipe that used sweet potato which made a nice flavorful mush.

Luckily it's a top one but it's going to come out in several pieces :[

I did get some meal replacement shakes (35g protein each) which will keep me alive if not necessarily happy

>>21675683
I might get some gummies but I can't be smoking anything, don't wanna risk it

>>21675686
thanks anon I've added lentils to my grocery order, and yeah I think I can some beef for the slow cooker which I can mush down without having to really chew

why would you not get them all out at the same time?

considering his grocery delivery company is australia, there's no public dental (for non-emergency, and even then it's extremely limited) so he probably can't afford to do it that way.

actually last time when I went in they were going to remove both, but the first one (the most critical one at the time because it was infecting my sinuses and nearly my brain) was so traumatic and difficult to get out that the dentist said no way on taking the other one out because the recovery would be way too difficult. The first one came out in like 7 different pieces and he had to dig broken root ends out and everything, and there was a lot of collateral damage to my gums etc. It was a fucking nightmare

*large bones
As in the bones fall apart. I worded that very poorly, I should get to bed.

aim for like 100g of protein a day just to absolutely make sure your body has protein got effective wound healing. along with other shit like staying hydrated and resting. personally I wouldn't eat anything even remotely solid until the stitches come out. total liquid high protein diet. I had my lowers surgically removed in pieces like you said and it was probably like 3 weeks until I could eat a soft sandwich without negatively affecting the wound.

Be extremely careful when brushing. it's easy to get up in the morning and groggily shove a toothbrush in your mouth and go to town from muscle memory and annihilate your wounds.

yeah I remember that if you dislodge the clot you risk infection and/or dry socket
