Someone here claimed a while ago that putting ranch dressing on pizza was something that arose in the past decade or so.

Bullshit. We were doing this with Gumby's pizza and Pokey Stix when I went to college over twenty years ago.

I've discovered that getting an order of cheesy garlic bread like this is excellent as a base for your culinary masterpieces. I personally like to get spicy salami and smoke turkey, layer the meats on top of it and then cover it with ranch and honey mustard and chopped up chicken fingers.

It's a Midwest/mountain west thing that has finally spread to other places. No one would ever think to do that, when I grew up in Florida, I didn't see that kind of stuff until I moved to Montana, where they put ranch on everything. Ranch is for specifically absolutely shit pizza, since it masks the bad tastes/dryness. That chewy, diaper crust pizza like Papa Johns, you kind of want ranch or something to dip the crust in so it isn't just tasteless bread.
There's no reason to dip NY pizza.

No, but even NY has plenty of substandard pizza, like any city. You may not be dipping crusts but ranch would probably fix a $1 slice if you drizzled it on top.

Although there's a local mom and pip pizza shop that has a blue cheese ranch dip for their wings that is really good, but that's because it's not just basic ranch.

where i live ranch on pizza only became a thing in the last decade too
people have tried to gaslight me on it and im sure it has existed elsewhere for a long time but not for me at all in my whole life
but i would not make a such a retarded statement as "it happened to me therefore it happened to you"

i have encountered this "thought" process countless times and just sum it up as a "everywhere is everywhere" argument

This is a cheesy bread with dressing sauce, not a pizza.
It's not even cut like a Pizza should.

I don't know what makes me more sad, that americans actually call this pizza or that they have never eaten pizza on their continent.

That’s not pizza. That’s Pokey Stix from Gumby’s. Just because someone says a word next to a picture doesn’t mean the picture is that word.

Reading comprehension doesn't appear to be your strong suit. Reread OP.
