I remember when I used to believe this shit, until I went to Japan and realized nobody gives a shit other than the highest of high end sushi places, and even then I don't think they care that much.

This reminds me of that time I went for a fancy Omakase in Tokyo: >be me >enjoying good sushi >half-way through the course pick up a piece of fatty tuna nigiri >it slips out of my chopsticks >falls onto my plate and separates >the whole room goes silent >frantically try to reassemble it before my 30 seconds is over >fail >the chef grabs my hand and looks me in the eyes >calls me a "baka gaijin" >says nobody is getting any sushi until I leave the place >leave in shame

american servings. people in yuroland and other parts of the world like to eat for fun instead of sustenance so they have little meals during the day. I once went to a cafe in France and ended draining their kitchen in one sitting unintentionally cause you were supposed to order like 2 oz of food and I got like 3 plates before they said they were out of food, probably just cutting me off in a polite way.
You're also supposed to turn the sushi upside down before eating it (with your hands, in one bite)
So that the sashimi touches your tongue first
