Think about it. Why would a productive member of society, a mature adult, why would they be infatuated with little underage kids in cartoons and "cuteness"? That's not adult male behavior in ANY society.

But that's not enough. They like cooking but they also LOVE anime. They have folders upon folders of it. They cannot ever, ever justify or even explain how they relate to it, how they came to even know about it, or how it fits into the life of a western adult man.
