I hadn't even considered the typing quirks. I suppose they are not necessary to understanding the characters, but they seem so integral to my perception of them it feels impossible to separate the two. Is it really eri if he isn't typing in a wwavvy wway? There is no way to replicate that in animation without coming off as egregiously cringe.
The censored movie posters were also pretty disappointing, if understandable. No Juggalos, no Betty Crocker, no "Don't Want to Miss a Thing". What's even the point? Homestuck without Nick Cage references is like a bunny without it's box.
I do kind of wish Homestuck was more accessible, though, if only to make re-reading it easier. There is so much fat that can be cut out of it, and I think it could make a really tight narrative with the right editing, and maybe some revisions to the ending. I still think a proper, retro earthbound-like video game would be the best format. Like we were promised with the Kickstarter.
